Legacy
Spielberg has left a lasting legacy on the film industry. His put timeless effort into his films to try to bring the story to life as much as he could. For example in his film, Saving Private Ryan, he tried to make it as realistic as possible. He did so by hiring Vietnam veteran Captain Dale Dye to host a bootcamp for the actors. He was told to turn the actors into soldiers. Some of the actors threatened to quit because of the bootcamp, but the star of the film, Tom Hanks, convinced them to stay. During the 10 day boot camp, the actors had to crawl in the mud and sleep in the dirt. They worked all day in pouring rain, and were cold. They rarely slept, had to eat in rations, lived in pump tents, marched, and did weapons training.
For the costumes, sets, and props, Spielberg did his best to make them extremely believable. His design team went as far as to dig out a whole river and build an entire village, then destroyed parts of it to make it look bombed. Spielberg even hired engineers to build German Tiger Tanks. The costume team made over 3,500 uniforms. The uniforms were carefully made to look worn out. Spielberg also received a very positive critique from Roger Ebert, a film critic who interviewed Spielberg. Ebert opens up his critic by saying , " If he never directed another film, his place in movie history would be secure. It is likely that when all of the movies of the 20th century are seen at a great distance in the future...his best will be in the handful that endure and are remembered. " In this interview, Spielberg ( talking about his inspiration for E.T. ) explains that, " From the very beginning, E.T. was a movie about my childhood - about my parents' divorce, although people haven't seen that it's about divorce. My parents split up when I was 15 or 16 years old, and I needed a special friend, and had to use my imagination to take me to places that felt good - that helped me move beyond the problems my parents were having, and that ended our family as a whole. And thinking about that time, I thought, an extraterrestrial character would be the perfect springboard to purge the pain of your parents' splitting up. " Spielberg pours his heart and soul into his films, showing that he can produce films that can suck the reader into the story, and keep them entertained. So far, Spielberg has films in the Top 100 Grossing Films of all Time ( Domestic Gross - Unadjusted for inflation ). Some of them include : #9 E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, #17 Jurassic Park, #40 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, #76 Jaws, and #90 Raiders of the Lost Ark. Spielberg has 5 films in the top 100 grossing films. He has made 26 films so far, and is still going. His new film Bridge of Spies is set to release on October 16, 2015. Though his legacy isn't finished quite yet, he has impacted the film world with his vision and creativity. |

As clearly shown, the set looks like a town that is destroyed by the depths of war. Buildings are torn apart and burnt. The ground in covered in debris and rubble. It looks like it could have been a picture from an actual war. Spielberg with renowned critic Roger Ebert.
Ebert showed much positivity in his interview with Spielberg. He described how his films would be remembered as some of the greatest films of the 20th century.
